ROLE OVERVIEW
PURPOSE OF JOB
The role is to contribute to and oversee the effective management of the Customer Due Diligence Team – Amsterdam, based in Mauritius and the Netherlands. The primary focus is to aid the CDD Team based in Amsterdam towards conducting client due diligence, monitoring client activities and ensuring adherence to Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations and Sanctions Laws. You will ensure that potential integrity risks are identified and managed and that clients are service in accordance with applicable regulations and JTC’s internal policies and procedures. You will also be responsible for managing the Mauritius sub-team.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Proactively oversee and manage team members in Mauritius, ensuring a professional service is provided to clients (JTC staff) and intermediaries.
- Directly support and coach team members in completion of their roles.
- Manage and prioritise projects in association with business-as-usual demands.
- Responsible for ongoing effective compliance/transactional monitoring in accordance with regulatory and business requirements for clients.
- Ensure all tasks are dealt with within an acceptable timeframe and deadlines are met.
- Aim to provide the Group with the best processes and service possible.
- Actively participate at internal meetings; demonstrate an ability to identify, pursue and manage potential business process improvements across the Group.
- Provide a value-added service to the chargeable sector of the Group.
- Maintain proactive, dynamic and effective communication with JTC staff at all times.
- Offer flexible and helpful support.
- Develop self and ensure knowledge in relevant field at all times.
- Be competent with the ability to multitask and manage high volumes of workload and deadlines.
- Be able to communicate and motivate via written media and verbal form.
- Develop strong problem-solving skills and encourage this in others.
- Be able to work productively, efficiently and effectively with initiative and drive under pressure and tight timescales whilst maintaining attention to details and quality.
- Conduct annual appraisals and interim reviews, setting SMART objectives.
- Adhere to Risk & Associated Compliance procedures in relation to regulatory requirements and AML legislation in particular to the Netherlands.
- Maintain 80% chargeable time and monitor time chargeability of line reports (SA Recruiter to confirm – Managers should have over 75% chargeable time).
- Adhere to JTC core values and expected behaviours and promote these in the team.
- Any other duties as deemed necessary or defined by Management and/or Group Board.
CLIENT SCREENINGS
- Conduct screenings of prospective clients and existing clients on a periodic basis.
- Perform ad-hoc screenings as needed.
- Review client structures and assess associated risks.
REPORTING
- Create comprehensive reports based on the screenings conducted.
- Highlight findings, risks, and recommendations.
PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT
- Arrange and maintain up-to-date client portfolios.
- Identify outstanding actions for clients.
- Monitor reminders and follow up on necessary actions.
- Check folders to ensure completed tasks.
PROJECT PARTICIPATION
- Participate in local jurisdiction and group-level projects.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- A degree, preferably in business administration or legal studies.
- ACAM’s or ICA certification would be an asset.
- A sound understanding of AML/CFT/PF Regulations.
- 3+ years of experience in a Compliance role.
- A proven track record of researching AML/CFT/PF Regulations
- Comfortable and highly proficient in verbal and written communications with internal and external stakeholders.
- A team player who listens well and values the input of his or her colleagues.
- Highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
- Highly organised and exceptionally detailed.
- Accustomed to managing multiple priorities.
- Strong command of the English language.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Effective communication skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Review and quality assurance of deliverables.
