ROLE OVERVIEW
PURPOSE OF JOB
Oversee the effective management of a project and regulatory compliance team within the division, supporting client facing teams by ensuring highest levels of compliance and governance within the division, in line with strategic objectives set by the Heads of Division and ICS. Act as alternate for client directors to provide coverage and bandwidth across the division. Act as deputy for Head of Division for regulatory compliance responsibilities.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Responsibility for the department’s management of regulatory risk and compliance and delivery of projects, working with all client directors and teams to ensure the division is able to meet KRIs.
- Jointly responsible for the success of the business – able to strategically plan and proactively direct the administration function for the division.
- Deliver initiatives to promote the achievement of optimum operational, financial and business performance.
- Manage performance against agreed targets and budgets, thus ensuring the division’s budgetary and performance targets are achieved and the division’s KPIs are maintained as defined for financial, management in addition to risk or as required by the Group.
- Through effective analysis of the division and its resulting performance, ensure knowledge gained is factored into the planning of the division’s strategy, resources and procedures.
- Ensure that the spirit of JTC is engendered and shared within the division.
- May be required to attend board/divisional meetings and contribute to JTC Jersey board papers/reports as appropriate.
- Whilst it is not envisioned that this role will have a portfolio of clients, there may be occasions where the Operational and Technical director is required to fulfil the function of “Client Director” on appropriate client entities, acting as alternate for client directors in their absence.
- Ensure good corporate governance in accordance with regulatory requirements while aligning to the Group’s overall aims, business plan and long-term strategy.
- Attend and lead meetings, either on or off site. Liaise with professional advisors to ensure the Group delivers both a proficient and added value service.
- Active participation at internal business development meetings; demonstrate an ability to identify new business opportunities and where possible introduce prospective new business to the Group.
- Maintain knowledge of all the division’s clients, in order to nurture close working relationships with employees across the division.
- Adhere to Risk & Compliance procedures in relation to regulatory requirements and AML legislation.
- Be responsible for analysing, assessing and managing the risks associated with the division’s clients.
- Monitor the division’s risk assessments and review measures to ensure conformity, remaining aware of risk exposure, including fulfilment of responsibilities under the review procedures.
- Remain aware of the obligations for the reporting of unusual transactions and act as a guide to the division in this respect.
- Act as an “A” signatory (subject to approval by appropriate Board and Committee).
- Develop an ability to inspire and motivate the division and the wider Group to sustain the Group’s unique stakeholder culture.
- Develop, coach and mentor management team, providing guidance on the management of employees according to Group standards and policy, ensuring employee’s and division’s adherence to their contractual obligations.
- Adhere to CPD requirements in accordance with qualification level and in-house procedures.
- Develop self and ensure knowledge in relevant field at all times.
- Deputise in the absence of Head of Corporate Services.
- Adhere to the JTC core values and expected behaviours.
- Any other duties as deemed necessary or defined by Management and/or Group Board.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Proven track record in servicing clients at a senior level.
- Corporate Services experience essential.
- Experience of holding director roles on client boards and/or internal boards.
- Professionally Qualified.
